Every design detail within The Usual Hotel Rotterdam matches the Environmental, social, and governance (ESG) and UN Sustainable Development Goals. The Usual is powered by 100 percent renewable energy from Dutch windmills. Having a Green Key-certified, including a BREEAM Excellent / Outstanding and circular recycled building materials.
The Usual Sustainable Hotel Group has recently opened their first fully sustainable hotel on Westblaak in Rotterdam. This hotel houses 165 hotel rooms, 44 sleeping pods, a spa, restaurant, and workspaces. The entire concept at The Usual revolves around sustainable choices, with as little negative impact on people and the environment as possible. The Good Floor contributed as sustainable focused floor supplier and manufacturer, ensuring that the project achieved high levels of environmental responsibility.

The Usual Rotterdam, the handiwork of Hamburg-based architect firm JOI-Design, is all about positive impact: biophilic design with circular recyclability, solar – and water-saving solutions. Their designers selected only circular materials with low environmental impact and extended lifespans—those that are bio-based, recyclable, made from recycled components or reusable at the end of their lifecycle.
