Project Description

From your own waste plastic to a new terrazzo floor.

What if the waste you collect every day came back into your own interior?

At AVRI in Geldermalsen hat has become reality. In collaboration with interior architect Wies Harmeling of De Ruimdenkers, The Good Floor installed no less than 258 m² of circular terrazzo flooring incorporating recycled waste plastic from AVRI itself.

A special project where waste collection, reuse and interior architecture come together. From an in-house waste stream to a high-quality design floor.

From waste to value

As an organization that deals with waste collection and resource management every day, AVRI knows better than anyone how important it is to reuse valuable materials.

For this project, AVRI’s own waste plastic was given a second life in The Good Floor. What used to be waste is now part of a high-quality terrazzo floor installed in various spaces throughout the building.

This makes circularity not just an ambition, but something literally visible and tangible in the everyday work environment.

Circularity meets interior architecture

Interior architect Wies Harmeling of De Ruimdenkers translated AVRI’s circular ambitions into a distinctive spatial design that brings together sustainability, functionality and aesthetics.

Fresh turquoise and green tones are combined with warm red-orange accents, natural wood materials and light terrazzo surfaces.

The colorful granules in The Good Floor match this material and color palette and give the spaces their own identity. At the same time, they tell the story of reuse: waste plastic finding a new purpose as part of the interior.

258 m² with a circular story

With a total area of 258 m², this project shows that circular materials can also be applied on a larger scale.

What makes AVRI special is the direct connection between the client, the raw material and the end result. The organization’s own waste plastic is put back to use within the organization, giving the idea of circularity a concrete form.

A collaboration between AVRI, De Ruimdenkers and The Good Floor that shows how conscious material choices and strong interior design can reinforce each other.

From your own waste to a new floor. From raw material to design. Every step counts.
