Sustainability and design come together in the Waalhaven

When Count Energy Trading decided to expand its Rotterdam head office, it enlisted the help of sustainable design Studio Biek. Interior architects Rianne van der Kooij and Robin Smith were commissioned to design a forward-looking, sustainable interior that reflects the company’s character.

Smith: “The brief was: we want to involve our clients and employees more in our activities and the interior must express this. The company emphasizes a transition to more sustainable materials that it trades in, so applying sustainable and recycled materials in the interior aligned with this. We were given complete freedom to integrate sustainable, preferably locally produced materials into our design.”
