Project Description

Milieupark + De HER: Circular Interior for a circular city

For architects and designers, Milieupark + De HER is a case study in circularity. The new resource center of the Municipality of Rotterdam demonstrates how waste becomes a valuable building block – both literally and figuratively.

The foundation of the interior: a circular and recycled terrazzo floor by The Good Floor, made with plastic collected by Rotterdam primary schools. This creates not only a sustainable and beautiful floor finish, but also a powerful social story that connects design and awareness.

Additionally, furniture has been reused, acoustic solutions manufactured from PET bottles, and residual materials transformed into new, functional elements. The result is an interior that is robust, warm, and future-proof – a tangible translation of Rotterdam’s circular ambitions.
